LOCATION & COURSE

Moruya Jockey Club is located 300kms, which is a 3 hour drive, south of Sydney and 180kms, a 2 hour drive, east of Canberra.

The Club and racecourse is in Donnelly Drive at North Head, Moruya, opposite the Moruya Airport.

The current course was opened in 1985.  It is an excellent all-weather track, on a sand base with a bore water irrigation system.  The sand base provides a cushioned surface, easy on the horses’ legs.

The racecourse is a picturesque country course with extensive family friendly grassed areas for picnics and outdoor viewing and offers an undercover area with bar facilities.  The Club runs a full bar (alcohol cannot be brought into the racecourse) and a variety of food is available through independent contractors.

PARKING, ENTRY & TRANSPORT

The Club offers ample free parking to all racegoers.   Moruya Jockey Club has negotiated with Priors Bus Service to provide transport to and from each race meeting at a moderate cost within the local area.  Check with Priors on 02 4472 4040 for pickup points.  Buses from other locations are provided  on many of the major days – check the Home Page race meeting information for details.

Regional Express Airlines fly to Moruya from Sydney daily.

The Entry Fee to the Course is $10 per person and $5 Concession.  Entry is free to Members and Children under 18.   Race programs are available at $5.  There is a cash machine available at the racecourse on race days.

The Moruya Jockey Club currently holds 12 race meetings each year.  Feature meetings include the Narooma and the Moruya Cups held in January, the Easter Cup and the Batemans Bay Cup and Registered Clubs Day during August and September.  A race meeting is held on Melbourne Cup day every alternate year.  The next Melbourne Cup day at Moruya Jockey Club will be held in November, 2018/20/22 etc.

BETTING, DRAWS & DRESS CODE

There are full TAB and Bookmaker facilities on course for meetings.

Dress code is neat casual for all attendees.

“Fashions on the Field” and children’s entertainment are conducted at the major meetings.

In addition, visitors attending each race meeting are free to participate in the “Pick 3 Winners” competition.  Prize money of $200 can be won or shared between the winners.

And Club Members may be fortunate to win the Members Lucky Badge Draw, held on every race day.

Moruya Jockey Club supports community groups in the region and encourages these groups to provide volunteers to coordinate the Club parking area on racedays.  A gold coin donation is appreciated to assist with their fundraising.
